Delray Beach, Fla. – August 3, 2015 –Palm Beach Health Network Physician Groups (PBHNPG) is pleased to announce Pedro A. Piza, MD, an orthopaedic and reconstructive surgeon and sports medicine specialist, has opened his practice in Delray Beach and Boca Raton. Dr. Piza specializes in reconstructive, arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery involving the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Piza has worked as an orthopaedic surgeon at Delray Medical Center and West Boca Medical Center serving the communities of Palm Beach and Palm Beach Counties. Dr. Piza is proficient in shoulder surgery, performing numerous shoulder replacements including reverse shoulder arthroplasty and rotator cuff repairs. Dr. Piza has served as an Associate Master Instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America, teaching shoulder surgery techniques to surgeons from around the world. He works with industry professionals to improve new technologies and has developed rotator cuff repair techniques and shoulder anchors to help perform surgery with ease and improve results. Dr. Piza has participated in clinical research on growth factor-soaked patches to treat massive rotator cuff tears and has presented his work at numerous medical conferences, locally and abroad.

Dr. Piza conducts primary and revision hip and knee replacements using the latest proven technology to improve outcomes in his patients. He personalizes knee replacements to match the patient’s anatomy and performs hip replacements with components that reestablish the hip anatomy and leg length and reduce the risk of dislocation. Dr. Piza is experienced in fracture repair surgeries and reconstructive surgeries for the more complex orthopaedic injuries.

Dr. Piza is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is fellowship-trained in knee, shoulder and elbow reconstruction and sports medicine. His fellowship was conducted at Plancher Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Greenwich, CT and New York. He finished a residency in orthopaedic surgery and an internship in general surgery at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Center in San Juan after he received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. Dr. Piza has been part of the Palm Beach County orthopaedic trauma service at Delray Medical Center since 2005 and has been practicing medicine since 1998. Dr. Piza is on staff at Delray Medical Center and is bilingual in Spanish and English.
