Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – January 14, 2021 – Richard S. Faro, MD, FACS, a highly experienced cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgeon and founder of the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Heart Institute has joined Tenet Florida Cardiovascular Care (TFCC), a medical practice with the Palm Beach Health Network Physician Groups multispecialty physician network. Dr. Faro specializes in cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery including trans carotid artery revision (TCAR), trans aortic valve replacement (TAVR), endovenous vascular artery repair (EVAR) and trans endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). In addition, Dr. Faro specializes in coronary artery bypass, aortic/thoracic dissections, carotid artery endarterectomy, peripheral vascular disease, venous ablations, venous chemical ablations and varithena ablations. He is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, American Board of Surgery in both general surgery and general vascular surgery, and the American Board of Phlebology. Dr. Faro is on-staff at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.

Prior to joining Tenet Florida Cardiovascular Care, Dr. Faro built the successful private practice Palm Beach Cardiovascular Associates with his colleague Dr. Joseph A. Motta, a cardiothoracic surgeon. Dr. Faro served as Founder and Director of Cardiac Surgery from 1983-2000 at the Palm Beach Heart Institute at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center where he and Dr. Motta established the open heart surgery unit at the hospital. During his medical career, Dr. Faro has operated with staff privileges at six different South Florida hospitals. Previously, Dr. Faro served as assistant professor, Department of Surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville, clinical instructor and adjunct attending at Rush Medical College in Chicago and as assistant instructor at the Department of Surgery, Creighton University.

For his education and training, Dr. Faro completed fellowships in cardiovascular/thoracic surgery and peripheral vascular surgery at Rush University Hospital (formerly Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center) located in Chicago, Ill. Dr. Faro finished a general surgery residency and graduated medical school from the Creighton University School of Medicine, located in Omaha, NE. In addition, Dr. Faro completed an internship in general surgery at S.U.N.Y. Downstate Medical Center, Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Faro also served as a Captain in the United States Air Force where he was on-staff at Guam Memorial Hospital located in Agana, Guam.

On three separate occasions, Dr. Faro has been awarded with the Physician’s Recognition Award from the American Medical Association. Dr. Faro’s research and findings on general, vascular, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery have been published in dozens of peer-reviewed medical journals. During his illustrious medical career, Dr. Faro has given numerous major presentations to the medical community as an expert in general surgery, general vascular surgery, thoracic and cardiovascular procedures.
