Since May is stroke awareness month, I talked with Dr. Ali Malek, Interventional Neurologist, St. Mary’s Medical Center about risk factors, symptoms (F.A.S.T.) and treatments. Some risk factors are genetic and can’t be controlled but other can such as: Not smoking, healthy weight, good blood pressure, good cholesterol numbers, physically active (age appropriate activities – talk with doctor), etc.
