Dr. Nishant Patel was featured in a newspaper article for using a new heart pump in the life-saving care of a 65-year-old man who suffered a heart attack. The man’s heart couldn’t efficiently pump blood on its own until Dr. Patel implanted the temporary heart pump. According to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Dr. Patel is the first heart surgeon in Florida to use the Impella 5.5 with Smart Assist heart pump.
