Cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Joseph Motta, co-founder of the open heart surgery unit at Palm Beach Gardens Center joins Palm Beach Health Network Physician Groups

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – January 18, 2021 – Joseph  Motta, MD, FACS, a cardiothoracic surgeon who co-founded the open heart surgery unit at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, has joined Tenet Florida Cardiovascular Care, a medical practice of the Palm Beach Health Network Physician Groups (PBHNPG) multispecialty physician network in Palm Beach Gardens. Dr. Motta specializes in cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery including trans carotid artery revascularization (TCAR), trans aortic valve replacement (TAVR), endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and trans endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). In addition, Dr. Motta specializes in coronary artery bypass, aortic/thoracic dissections, carotid artery endarterectomy, peripheral vascular disease, venous ablations, venous chemical ablations and varithena ablations. Dually board-certified, Dr. Motta holds certifications with the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Motta is on-staff at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.

Prior to joining Tenet Florida Cardiovascular Care, Dr. Motta and his colleague Dr. Ricard S. Faro led a successful medical practice at Palm Beach Cardiovascular Associates. Dr. Motta has been on-staff at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center since 1983. He was the Vice Chief of Staff at the hospital in 2001.

For his education and training, Dr. Motta completed fellowship-training in vascular surgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Motta finished a general surgery internship and residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami Veterans Hospital and the University of Miami School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Motta completed cardiovascular-thoracic surgery residencies at Crawford Long Hospital, Atlanta Veterans Hospital, Henrietta Egleston Hospital for Children, Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory University Hospital and the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.

Dr. Motta is a Fellow, with the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Florida Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons, Florida Medical Association, Palm Beach County Medical Society, Emory Association of Vascular Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgery, Society of Vascular Ultrasound, Southern Thoracic Surgical Society and Society of Thoracic Surgery Association. Dr. Motta is a native Floridian. He has been practicing medicine since 1976.
