Barbara’s Story
Dr. Parra-davila Was Able to Perform My Gallbladder Procedure as a Minimally-invasive Robotic Surgery Rather Than an Open Surgery Which Would Have Been More Invasive. This Was Performed as an Outpatient Procedure So I Was in for Surgery and Back Home in Just Six Hours. I’ve Had Many Surgeries Throughout My Life and Never Had One Go as Good as This One Did. It Was Perfection.
I was suffering from bouts of nausea which motivated me to make an appointment with my gastroenterologist. After my appointment, my gastroenterologist referred me to a colorectal and general surgeon, Dr. Eduardo Parra-Davila. Right away after my initial appointment, I noticed Dr. Parra-Davila’s thorough care plan. Dr. Parra-Davila sent me for a scan to investigate my condition and discovered I was suffering from gallstones. He said, I would need surgery to remove the gallstones.
I had surgery at Good Samaritan Medical Center during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hospital staff was very careful and made sure to be safe with my care. I was more worried about the general anesthesia. Several years ago, after having three other separate surgeries by different doctors, I developed post-surgical psychosis. Back then, the general anesthesia put the frontal lobes of my brain asleep. I was told never to have surgery again if it required general anesthesia. But, several years later I went in for hyperbaric treatments and the oxygen woke up my frontal lobes. Dr. Parra-Davila took my entire past history into account.
Dr. Parra-Davila was so wonderful and very thorough. He scheduled me for an interview with a psychiatrist and neurologist to reduce the risk of suffering post-surgical psychosis again. He and the anesthesiologist told me they were going to give me less anesthetic gasses and get me in an out of surgery as quickly as possible. Dr. Parra-Davila and his team made sure they took the time to communicate with me about my anesthesia concerns. I had general anesthesia for my gallbladder surgery and today I’m doing fine. Everything was perfect with my gallbladder surgery.
Dr. Parra-Davila was very attentive in explaining his plan for my care. I never felt rushed. If I had a question, Dr. Parra-Davila would answer it. Today, I sing his praises to everyone.
Dr. Parra-Davila and his office staff were top-notch from the beginning all the way through to the end of my care. I have nothing but praise for everyone from the receptionist all the way to Dr. Parra-Davila. I was very impressed with Dr. Parra-Davila. He was very kind and gentle with my care. My gallbladder procedure couldn’t have gone any better than it did. I didn’t even have to take a pain pill. I never dreamed at the age of 80, a surgery like this would go as well as it did.
It was a fabulous experience. I’m very grateful and happy I was under the care of Dr. Parra-Davila. Dr. Parra-Davila’s office staff is wonderful. They check-up on me and call when they say they’re going to call. He and his staff couldn’t have been more gracious and diligent. Dr. Parra-Davila is a fabulous surgeon. He’s very personable and caring. I would recommend him to anyone.
