Highly honored Bronze Star Award recipient and experienced, veteran breast surgeon, opens office in West Palm Beach
Aug 18, 2019West Palm Beach, Fla. – August 19, 2019 – Elena Antedomenico Rehl, MD, FACS, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon awarded the Bronze Star Medal and six other United States Armed Forces honors and recognitions while serving her country in Iraq, Africa, Germany and here in the U.S., has opened an office with Palm Beach Health Network Physician Groups (PBHNPG) in West Palm Beach, FL. Dr. Rehl specializes in breast surgery, breast cancer surgery and benign breast disease, and is on-staff at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL.
Dr. Rehl is certified by the American Board of Surgery. Prior to joining PBHNPG, Dr. Rehl worked as a breast surgeon at the Center for Breast Care, Memorial Health Anderson Cancer Institute located in Savannah, GA. Dr. Rehl, an award-winning, veteran general surgeon has held the academic appointment of Assistant Professor of Surgery at Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, GA. In addition, Dr. Rehl worked professionally as a clinical breast instructor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, general surgery staff at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, KY, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany and Wurzburg Army Community Hospital in Wurzburg, Germany.
Dr. Rehl served as both chief of general surgery/trauma surgery staff of the 21st Combat Support Hospital, Al Asad, Iraq, and as general surgery staff during Operation Nomad Fire – In Support of the President of the United States visit to Ghana, Africa. She also served as general surgery staff/trauma surgery staff for the 67th Forward Surgical Team, Airborne in Tallil, Tikrit, Baji and Baghdad, Iraq.
While serving in the United States Armed Forces, Dr. Rehl was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (Third Award), Army Commendation Medal (Second Award), National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medial with Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Parachutist Badge.
For her education and training, Dr. Rehl completed a fellowhsip in breast surgery from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN, general surgery residency at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI, and a general surgery internship at Brooke Army Medical Center located in San Antonio, TX. Dr Rehl graduated medical school from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine, located in Bethesda, MD.
Throughout her medical career, Dr. Rehl has committed time to advancing the field of general surgery and breast surgery medicine through her research she published in several medical journals. Dr. Rehl has also presented her medical findings and research at numerous symposiums and conferences across North America.
Dr. Rehl is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and a Fellow, American College of Surgeons. Dr. Rehl has been practicing medicine since 2000.
