World Renowned Clubfoot Expert Dr. Matthew Dobbs opens office in West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach, Fla. – September 14, 2020 – Palm Beach Health Network Physician Groups welcomes Matthew B. Dobbs, MD, FAOA, FACS a world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon and clubfoot expert opening a Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute office in West Palm Beach. Dr. Dobbs specializes in pediatric foot deformities, minimally invasive surgery, torticollis, and cerebral palsy spasticity. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Dobbs is on-staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

Prior to joining the Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute, Dr. Dobbs served as a staff physician at Shriners Hospital for Children – St. Louis as well as the Dr. Asa C. and Mrs. Dorothy W. Jones Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of Strategic Planning in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University located in St. Louis, MO. In addition, Dr. Dobbs was the Founder and Director of the Clubfoot Treatment Center, Center for Foot Disorders, Congenital and Acquired Torticollis Program, Toe Walking Center and Nail Patella Syndrome Clinics at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Furthermore, Dr. Dobbs worked as Co-Director of the Williams Syndrome, Skeletal Dysplasia, and Neurofibromatosis Clinical Programs, Musculoskeletal Genetics Research Laboratory, Center for Cerebral Palsy Spasticity and Rett Syndrome Clinic at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Dobbs is an accomplished researcher in both the clinical and basic science arena. His genetics research is National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded and has led to gene discovery for clubfoot and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. His clubfoot and vertical talus research have resulted in new minimally invasive treatment methods for these disorders that are adopted around the world. Dr. Dobbs also holds several patents including one for a clubfoot orthotic device that is used to prevent clubfoot relapse. Additionally, Dr. Dobbs is the Chair, Organizing Committee, International Clubfoot Congress (ICFC) and Secretary of the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons (ABJS). Dr. Dobbs also serves as President for both United States Bone and Joint Initiative (USBJI) and the International Federation of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons (IFPOS). He holds leadership positions in a multitude of orthopaedic societies on both national and international levels and does extensive teaching globally empowering surgeons in the developing world by providing them with new treatment strategies for common pediatric orthopaedic conditions.

For his education and training, Dr. Dobbs completed a Fellowship, Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and Pediatric Spine Surgery at Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis. Dr. Dobbs finished his orthopaedic surgery residency and internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics located in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated medical school from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Dr. Dobbs has been practicing medicine since 2001.
